This is Thornton’s first time offering this blend.
The 2020 crop of Petite Syrah was very small, and we made the decision on the spot to crush and co-ferment with the Estate Syrah harvested the same day. The result is a natural match!
Aroma: Wild berries, plums, and blueberries are prominent on the nose, with a nice note of cocoa and coffee.
Palate: Fruit takes center stage on the entry, while firm but balanced tannins take over leading to a fruit and light spice fish that lingers nicely. More balanced than many huge tannic Petite Sirahs.
Pairing: Meat: beef, lamb, and pork with bold seasonings and cooked on the grill. Also, a great match with stews and rich flavored vegetarian dishes.
