Petite Sirah

$43.00

Tasting Notes: Developed as a cross between two different grapes in France where it is known as Durif, Petite Sirah is virtually unknown in its ancestral home. Fortunately for us it thrives in many regions of California, including here in Temecula Valley. Back in the Gold Rush days of California, one often found field blends of numerous red grapes grown together; Petite Sirah, as this grape came to be known, was usually among those many varieties. On its own it has a distinctive, robust character. Thornton’s 2024 version was aged for 17 months in 50% new American Oak and 50% 2nd use Carpathian oak.

With just a half acre planted at Thornton, our Estate Petite Sirah will always be in short supply; the 2024 vintage only produced 49 cases and will run out early, so don’t hesitate to pick some up!
